I’ve always been inspired by the people around me both literally and online. Their words and lives motivate me to never give up on my dreams. And they encourage me to keep fighting for the life that I want to live.
That’s why today I’m going to share 10 quotes from some of my favorite people throughout history!
1. Fight for the Life You Want
“You have one life. Fight for it”– Gary Vaynerchuk
We humans endeavor to achieve our dreams. But somehow along the way, many of us give up. We believe that our dreams are unattainable causing us to stop reaching for them.
Stop doing this.
Stop letting the opinions of others and settling for your own mediocrity get in the way of who you can be. If you want that life bad enough, you will work every day for it. Otherwise, you’ll just find an excuse.
2. Be Yourself
“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow.”
– Vincent Van Goph –
Abnormality makes life interesting and fun. People used to joke about how weird I was (lol, still am) but then I started embracing it. I love it when people have weird quirks and hobbies that they adore.
If everyone was exactly the same, life would be pretty freaking boring. So continue to embrace your abnormality and be exactly who you want to be. And become whoever the heck you want to become.
3. Stop Tolerating and Become the Best Version of Yourself
“We all get what we tolerate. So stop tolerating excuses within yourself, limiting beliefs, or half-assed or fearful states.”– Tony Robbins –
Tolerating the unsatisfactory parts of your life limits your chances at becoming better.
Stop tolerating stupid crap and instead stand up and become the best version of you that you can be.
4. Success Comes from Action
“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.”– Estee Lauder –
Everyone defines success differently. And I find that beautiful.
One thing rings true no matter how you define it: you will never achieve success unless you act on your dreams.
Anyone can come up with an idea for an app or a business. But only a dedicated few will put in the effort needed to start it and even fewer continue the process, even when failure seems the possible outcome.
5. Do What Scares You
“Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that is going to help you grow.”– Caroline Myss –
Fear is a terrifying feeling. Many of us have a relationship with our fears that keeps us from ever facing them. Yet, the more we hide from them, the bigger they get.
As someone who’s struggled with anxiety for years, I know how true this is. Fear has a tendency to run your life if you let it. But, if you work to find the root of your fear and then work to overcome it, you can change the rest of your life!
“Fortune favors the brave”
6. Be Daring
“The most dangerous thing you can do in life is play it safe.”– Casey Neistat –
I launched Daring to Inspire over a year ago. It was terrifying and exciting at the same time. I didn’t know what the future was going to hold. But that’s the fun thing about life, no one knows what their future will be like.
We have our entire lives ahead of us. We get to jump in head first and make decisions in the present with no idea what the future will hold. What do you hope your future holds?
7. Discipline Will Take You Far
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.”– Abraham Lincoln –
Dreams without discipline are just wishes.
If you don’t act on your dreams and discipline yourself, you will never get anywhere in life.
It’s easy to indulge in things that feel right
Discipline is like a muscle, if you don’t use it, it will degenerate. But if you do use it, it grows and it will change your entire life.
8. Don’t Take the Easy Road
“Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering.”– Theodore Roosevelt –
If success was easy, everyone would be successful. If getting in shape was easy, everyone would be bodybuilders. These things take time, commitment, energy, and saying “no” to other things.
A lot of people aren’t willing to sacrifice the easy parts of their lives to make their life better. Stop settling for the easy things in life. Stand up and take the hard road. Push yourself a little more. I know you can do this.
9. Be Unapologetically Yourself
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”– Dr. Seuss
When you are 100% yourself, you don’t have to worry about people finding out things about you. Everyone will know who you are and they can decide if they like you. Not everyone in life is going to like you.
10. Don’t Look to Others for Approval
“When you do something beautiful and nobody noticed, do not be sad. For the sun every morning is a beautiful spectacle and yet most of the audience still sleeps.”– John Lennon –
If you’re constantly looking for others approval of everything you do, you will always be disappointed.
No one will ever completely understand why you’re doing what you’re doing or why you’re doing things. Because of that, people will often not approve of your life choices. But that’s okay. It’s not their life.
Life is a beautiful thing and each of us is only given one chance at it. That’s why I get so heated and irritated about encouraging people to do what they want to do with their life.
No one knows how long they’ll be alive but with the way modern medicine is going, we’re living longer and longer. And that’s freaking incredible! We have more time to devote to helping this world become a better place to live.
I hope that these quotes encouraged you to go out and live the life that you’ve always wanted! What is your favorite quote? And why do you love it so much?
